Living in Manhasset is Great – 5 Reasons to Live Here!
Living in Manhasset is great…and here’s my top 5 reasons to live in Manhasset
1. Fantastic Commute: 28 Express Minutes to Penn Station and Access to Major Highways
Manhasset is on the Port Washington branch of the LIRR…the only direct line in and out of Penn Station. Express trains in the morning and the evening take only 28 minutes…my husband complains it is not enough time to read the entire paper. Manhasset is also located close to the LIE and the Northern State Parkways. So whether you work in NYC, Queens, Brooklyn, other parts of Long Island…Manhasset’s location is my number one reason for making living in Manhasset great.
2. Highly Regarded School District (#6)
Everyone has different criteria for evaluating schools, but almost all my clients and customers tell me that our schools were a big factor when choosing a place to live. Two elementary schools feed into a middle school attached to the high school. Award- winning schools is my number 2 reason for making living in Manhasset great.
3. Uncommon Community Spirit
It’s intangible so it is so hard to describe… picture a town that has an old-fashioned Memorial Day Parade where every kid in town marches with the scouts, a sporting team or other activity. Our men and women have served our country proudly march and the whole thing ends with a fantastic parade of firetrucks and volunteer firefighters and a simple but dignified ceremony that honors our war dead.
Or a town where every Saturday night in December Santa rides around on top of a firetruck tossing candy to kids who run out of their homes in pj’s with their eyes filled with wonder. It’s a town that rallies around any family who needs help and where people know each other’s names. Community Spirit is my third reason living in Manhasset is great.
4. Shopping: From A Convenient Downtown to Chic Boutique Shopping
Plandome Road is home to many dry cleaners, pharmacies, pizza places (all who deliver), a movie theatre, pubs, an old-fashioned toy store, a store that has everything from shampoo to pots and pans, sporting goods store, and so many more. With so many city-like retailers, the transition from city to suburb is painless.
The Americana shopping center features all the stores one would find on 5th Avenue and the “Miracle Mile” offers everything else inbetween. Never having to leave town to get what I need is my fourth reason why living in Manhasset is great.
5. Cozy Cottages to Mini Estates
Manhasset’s 5 incorporated villages and distinctive neighborhoods offer a range of homes with different architectual styles. Homes located on the water or with waterviews or set on large pieces of property can make it hard to believe you are only 18 miles out of midtown Manhattan.
Starter homes are in town near shopping, the playground and of course the train. Something for everyone is my fifth reason why living in Manhasset is great.
